Products

Crude porcine heparin is the starting material for the production of heparin API. Hepac's heparin is solely obtained from porcine mucosa.

Quality

Hepac's heparin is solely obtained from porcine mucosa. The mucosa is exclusively obtained from healthy pigs, from European pig slaughterhouses, which have been declared fit for human consumption after ante- and post-mortem control by veterinarian authorities.

Heparin

Heparin is widely used as an injectable anticoagulant, and has the highest negative charge density of any known biological molecule. It can also be used to form an inner anticoagulant surface on various experimental and medical devices such as test tubes and renal dialysis machines.

Origin and process

Hepac harvests porcine mucosa in their own gut rooms. The Hepac plant in Burgum (NL) hydrolyses the porcine mucosa and binds released heparin to the resin. In Loenen (NL) the semi-finished product is desorped from the resin, crystalized and dried. After strict quality control the crude heparin is released for Hepacs customers.
